THE FOOD INDUSTRY AND GLOBAL WARMING (CLIMATE CHANGE)

According to Environmental Defense, "if every American skipped one meal of chicken per week and substituted vegan foods instead, the
carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than a half-million cars off U.S. roads."

A recent report published by the United Nations warns: “Livestock are one of the most significant contributors to today's most serious
environmental problems...urgent action is required to remedy the situation.”

"Sure, riding your bike to work and cutting carbon emissions works, too, but it turns out meat production is more to blame for climate change
than the transportation industry .The best way to save the plant is to 'give up meat', former World Bank chief economist Lord Stern told UK's
    The Times.

“Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world’s resources. A vegetarian diet
is better,” he told the paper. 18% of global warming emissions are due to meat production, which includes the deforestation of land for cattle
ranching and the creation of animal feeds like soy. Cattle also directly emit methane – which as a greenhouse gas is 23 times more powerful
than carbon dioxide – into the environment."
